Any benefit to powder coating the intake manifold?

I've got a buddy who coated my headers and gave me a pretty good deal, they look great. Was wondering if anyone ever coates their intake manfiolds or is that just a waste of time and money?

Good looks is all it's really going to get you. I know someone that did their engine block. It looks fantastic! But I didn't know you could power coat headers. I thought they got way to hot for power coating.

They DO get way too hot for p[owdercoating... THat's why they have Ceramic coating...
The power coating is put on around the 400* range and the 500* hi temp paint comes off around the 450* range... It'll last about the same amount of time... (very little)

Some ceramic coating may help a very little bit (heat reflection) but probably isn't worth the money (for the performance gain). But it does look good and is easy to clean.

I wonder...is there a such thing as clear powder coating? Looking at buying a new super victor intake...and I hate it when after a few seasons it looks dull. My victor Jr looks like that now and I may paint it black next time it's off.

I had a brain fart, my headers were "ceramic"coated 2 years and still look great. I spoke to my buddy and he said he could use the ceramic coating similar to the headers for $50 on the intake. Outside of intake only as he said it could flake on the inside, which made since to me. Heck I just may do that for simipy ease of cleaning, any temp reduction would be a bouns...thanks fo the reply's...

Mavman, they do have clearcoat powdercoat and I have done intakes with it. They come out okay if you like that kind of finish. Also, if you are powdercoating it yourself, you have to watch the temperature very carefully because the clearcoats will yellow and discolor very easily if they get too hot. I have powdercoated an aluminum intake Ford dark blue and it came out fantastic and really held up well.

ahh now that would be sweet to have the intake ford blue to match the heads and block, give it a little stealth look unless you looked closely at it...

A little Old Ford Blue paint on the intake and heads and people will write it off as stock. Especially when it's all hid under a big blue air cleaner like mine. Now I just need to get rid of my shiny valve covers and put some painted stockers back on. It keeps 'em guessin'.
