How about putting the xe262 in a 351c 4v Thats going in a 4000 lb 72 torino? Thats what Im planning. Will I have a slight lope and noticable performance over a stock cam? I'm going to step the gears up from 2.75 to 3.89 since its just a cruiser. and I will go with 2500-3000 stall to help the weight.

An XE268 would work well with those extra cubes.

.038 multilayer head gaskets

Those are very expensive, and only required with nitrous/blown applications. You could save some money here by using standard gaskets. Plus, the Cometics need a SMOOTH surface to seal properly. I believe the Fel-Pro MLS gaskets have a sticky coating that will work a little better with less smooth surfaces.

If you can see the machining marks on the block/heads where they have been surfaced, think twice about using these gaskets. They can leak water.

Good Luck!

Sorry...they are not multilayer. Its a Mr. Gasket Ultra Seal Jegs part #720-5807 , 45.00 per pair. the .038 will put me at 9.45 compression.

Also Jegs is out of the pushrods...so i didn't order them. i was looking at summit and they are 6.850 in length 5/16 chrome moly and EXPENSIVE 149.00 can I use my stock steel ones??? Im starting to go broke.

I don't think they make a 268 for the 351c. Would a 270h be better? will it live in a 4000 lb car and 9-9.5:1 compression???

The 6.850" Summit (trickflow) hardened pushrods are out of stock, but they have the 6.900" length in stock. This is the length I had to use with stock heads and an aftermarket cam.

It's not time to order pushrods anyway, you'll need to check rocker geometry, and optimize it with pushrod length before you know what length to order. You'll need to adjust the pushrod length until the rocker has no more than 0.080" sweep across the valve as the valve goes through it's lift cycle.

Here's a link to the 6.900" pushrods in case you are interested. I have this same brand in my car right now. They seem to work just fine. $86.95

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...p;autoview=sku

To search for different lengths, just type the part number into the search box. These are part number TFS-21406900. Notice the last four numbers are the length. To search for a different length, just change those last four digits of the part number to the length you are looking for, and see if they have it.

Good Luck!

You guys are so cool to help...I actually just didn't order the pushrods yet, but I ordered a pushrod length checker. These poor mail order places must hate me by now, I'v changed my order a couple of times. But basically I have it all ordered minus push-rods and head studs. I am going with the studs though, they we're like 15.00 more. Thanks for all your help mike, Im dying to get it all put in and see how she runs.

mdula

dont overlook your valve springs like i did.

I have the 165's and order the "Hyd roller" spring upgrade, thinking I would be ok. Im not. I have the XE274Hr.

Look at the sheet provided by AFR (if you got one) and see what the springs tested at. Then ask around to confirm if they are suitable for that cam you are getting. It could save you a little grief later on.
