Define the Cobrajet and a non Cobrajet diffrences please

Its a good book, but only by default.

That book is at least 20 years from the 1st printing, (oops, I was wrong, it's only 17 years...February 16, 1989) as are most books that have anything to say about Ford big blocks. A lot of the information is severely out of date.

Most of the hot rod parts, back in the day were actually from Ford. The big mfgs, and catalog houses either didn't stock much in the way of performance parts for Fords or the prices were usually close to double compared to GM parts. It was hard out there for a Ford Pimp! ...back in the 70's, 80's...

Although others already pointed out there is no 66 CJ, I can tell you the difference between any 428 non-CJ and any 428 CJ

To simplify

"What's the diffrence physically between a 66 428 4V premium fuel CJ, and a regular 428 4V Premium fuel non CJ engine."

ALL CJs had better heads, a 390 GT cam, a much better iron intake, a Holley 735, and freer flowing manifolds. They claim some block differences, but its not constant, everything else above is

Thats the 1st level of the answer

The second level is

Then what is now called an SCJ, but back then was just a drag pack option for lower gears that gave you more goodies was:

- SAME induction, heads, valvetrain, block, etc. BUT add capscrew rods, and a different crank and balancing to match the rods. Techically an SCJ should be slower due to rotating weight increase. There is no extra power on the SCJ, just durability (and thats even questionable)

The CJ and SCJ were not that wild, they just worked. Better heads, a Holley 735 vac sec, better advance curve, better intake, and a 270/280 degree cam, nothing fancy, just all well matched
