1965 289 water pump question (aluminum pump)

I am trying to find out if the 65 289 aluminum pump had the metal plate covering the impeller as the iron pumps have.

I recall reading that they didnt, But I do not trust my memory much anymore.

Thanks,
Wildo

:edit: part 2 of this question is in my next post in this topic!

Now, One more ?. Is there a difference between an iron pump timing cover and a aluminum pump timing cover?

1965 289 water pump question (aluminum pump)

I only owned the aluminum pump cover. I do know the bolt pattern is different at the bottom 2 water pump bolts. I'm guessing the deepth the area for the propeller should be different also. Here is what my TC cover looks like.

Someone correct me if I am wrong but I believe the timing cover used with the aluminum pump has water passages that are contoured for the flow path. The timing cover used with iron pumps used simple round holes that meet up with the opening in the steel backing plate on the pump.
