Anyone running an aluminium rad in a 67-70 mustang?

I was going to order a stock big block rad for my 68 mustang with the 408 but just thought I would see what my options are in aluminium..

I run a universal side tank, I made mounts and run a 69 Camaro aftermarket shroud.

I can send pics if you like.

In hindsight though, I would buy a bolt in next time just for ease of installation. It came out pretty and works great, but bolt in would have been cool too

Universal would likely be fine..Direct fit would be great but all I've seen so far are $500 and up models and I was hoping not to have to spend that kind of money..

I just helped friend install one in his '69 with a 408. Alums are expensive! He bought his setup from Dallas Mustang with a correct fitting radiator and dual electric fan setup with thermostat.

Biggest issue we had was burping the system to get the air pockets out.

I have no issues with a stock 3 core and fan+shroud (here in Texas) and I have a nasty 418 in mine.

I run a Summit universal with side tanks. I do have to have Chebby outlets because of my blower.

I'm sure you've seen my setup already, but here it is again. Cost me under $200 total. Had to get a universal hose for the lower, then made the top hose out of another hose, just cut in half and inserted pipe. Should cool a 408 w/o probs. I didn't cut the radiator suppport either. The two side baffles aren't used anymore, and I have about half an inch on either side to the frame rails. If you plan to keep the battery up front you'll need to modify the battery tray and move it over then ditch the lower mount; it will still fit but it gets tight.

Not that expensive, and you can order them just about any width and height you like. I have one for my current 67, and have used one in the last 4 Mustangs I've owned.

24" Griffin two 1 1/4 cores for a 69 Mustang in my 64 Falcon. Bought it through Summit and think it's cost was in the low three hundreds.

That's it, they are good radiators, Mines going on 2 years w/o any problems and not much more than a stock radiator, probably less expensive than a 3 core or big block rad.
