E303 in a truck. Real world experience?

A friend of mine got a great deal on a 0 miles 302 that's going into a 56 ford truck. The motor will be carb'd and probably have an AOD. Heads are ported E7's.

Ford claims peak tq at 2500 RPM's for an e303 cam. Is this true? Will he lose bottom end over the stock roller? Anyone have real world experience?

I'm thinking he will need shorter gears and a looser convertor. Comments?

If this 5.0L is from a 88-93 Mustang, then I'd stick with the stock cam and some 1.7 rocker arms. With a heavy truck and an AOD he should be looking for max torque and not HP. Also, since he is running carbed IF he wants to change cams I would look at some non-EFI cams (E303 is an EFI oriented cam.)
