b&m hammer shifter problems

has anyone had problemswith a b&m hammer shifter ? i cant seem to get the inkage adjusted correctly, it has a problem with reverse and drive it pretty much goes into reverse when it is in park and then i just bump the shifter again (it doesnt move 1/8 of an inch then it is in park. i know this is not the way it is suppoded to work.
i have a new cable ordered to hopefully fix the problem.
does anyone have any ideas ?

I did not have problems with the cable adjustment but the hammer shifter I bought for my mustang console was not made very well. I had to cut and modify the nuetral saftey switch/reverse light system as well as the gear position indicator. I was so disapointed in it when built my galaxie I bouht a Hurst shifter.
