351w swap

I have a chance to pick up a 351w out of 82 van and I don't know if it really matters what year the motor is.I want to put it into my 64 gal wagon that has a 289 sitting in her right now and like I said I don't know if it will work or not, thanks for any feedback

No it doesn't really matter what year the block is unless you want to stick it in without having to do anything..The 1982 van motor likely has a rear sump oil pan and I imagine you will need a front sump pan for your galaxie..You would just have to swap the pan.You will also need to drill a hole in the front cover for a dipstick.

Re: 351w swap

Should bolt right in. 351 Is 2 inches wider so exhaust wont work. Problem would be oil pan. Van will have rear sump and you need front. 351 pan is different than 289. You will have to get car pan and pickup tube.

Re: 351w swap

Do you think it would be worth the work of removing and rebuilding? by the way it's not costing me much $$$$

Re: 351w swap

Yes indeed. That would help that wagon tremendously.
