460 Oil pressure issue...

I have a 460 and had little to no oil pressure in a new build. I've pulled the engine and removed the intake. There is a cast 2 inch pedastool with two threaded holes that are not plugged in the center of the lifter valley in between the number 4 and 8 cylinders, these holes in the pedastool are on the same angle as the number 4 and 8 cylinders. Don't know a whole lot about the oil system of the ford engine. When I had the oil pump running on a drill I saw alot of swirling at the back of the engine through the pushrod holes but none up near the front of the engine. My question is might this be the cause of my oil pressure issue? Should the holes be plugged? What the heck are they for?

Thanks,
Scott

Without pulling my intake off to have a look, but I'm pretty sure they should be plugged.

Scott,

That is the oil pathway's crossover point and sends oil from the passenger side lifter gallery, accross/through the "pedestal" and over to the driver's side lifter gallery. YES, the two threaded holes in this crossover boss should be plugged with 1/4-inch NPT plugs, available at any hardware store.

Not should be plugged, have to be plugged. Nut make sure the plugs aren't so long as to stop the oil from going to the driver's side lifters. It's for when they drilled the oiling cross over holes.
