Re: WTF?!? Ford Camaro!
if im not mistaking i seen that episode and it went againgst another camaro and won, and as far as it goes into swaping engines is changing the mounts for the engine and tranny and maybe do some cosmetics on the fire wall and if u looked closely at the dash in the car it was changed . i noticed most of the time the cars that win are camaros or mustangs from the 80s and 90s. i also remember two mustangs running on pinks and one had a gm engine, guess who won FORD maybe that was the episode i was thinking of. i had put a 6.2 diesel in a 1949 plymouth pickup we had to make adjustment to the steering wheel which we took out of a chevy van earily 90s ( with tilt) the frame was a chevy pick up late 80s pedal and booster all went to gether fairly easy. the bigest problem we had was bolting the body to the frame. which we quickly resovled with 3 inch square tubes and it was a beastit was hight like the new f350. body is nothing compared to putting an engine together and matching parts to work together

Re: WTF?!? Ford Camaro!
There's a local racer here been running a 460-514 BBF in his Pontiac for 20+years. The Pontiac guys hate him -- the Ford guys love him. And it's fast!

Re: WTF?!? Ford Camaro!
Theres a guy kicking butt at the local track in some of the index classes...in a '92 Crap-maro with a 466 BBF. Just as allenman stated, the chevy guys hate him and the ford guys love him. I'm kind of in the middle. I've seen so many weird and off the wall engien swaps that nothing fazes me anymore. Weirdest one was at a car show, guy had a '48 Tucker sedan with a 16 cylinder Caddillac engine. The one that stands out in my mind was a '56 Ford pickup that was "stretched" into a crew cab, then the body was lowered onto a '03 F350 dually chassis which housed a T444E engine with a 6 speed. Guy pulls a trailer with it, inside the trailer is a 1100HP twin turbo Viper.

Re: WTF?!? Ford Camaro!
I love hearing about the one-way Chevy guys getting pissed off. Payback's a bitch. It would have been more insulting to swap a 4cyl Pinto motor into a Chevy.

Re: WTF?!? Ford Camaro!
I was working on a 1st gen Camaro with a Cleveland in the 80's, but Reaganomics cost me my job and had to sell off everything. There was something trickling down, but it was not money.

Re: WTF?!? Ford Camaro!
I seriously contemplated pulling the motor from my Merkur and dropping it into a Chevette. But the guy who had the Chevette put a 350 in it instead. I haven't seen it drive yet, but it does run now. Sounds interesting.

Pontiac people tend to be worse than chevy people about engine swaps. If it's not all Indian, it's blasphemy. A 400 Ford in a Trans Am would be a good death threat generator LOL. And you could keep the 6.6 badges on the car - Ha!
