Re: NOS shelf life...valve seals
If you like to eat a sandwich after it has been sitting on the counter for 20 years I would buy them. Don't mind that green mayo. Is that clear enough? Thank you. Mark

Re: NOS shelf life...valve seals
and the part where it says "sizteen" should also give you an idea if you want to be buying them.

Re: NOS shelf life...valve seals
lol i just realized it now that the z and x are right next to each other, and thats the only spelling error on the page, but that is something that i always watch out for on ebay, because how often is it that somebody who doesnt know english would be trying to sell classic ford parts unless they are from europe somewhere. It just made me think of all the scams that people warn you about.

Re: NOS shelf life...valve seals
ANY valve seals over 2 years old should be dumped in the trash if you ask me...
I get Quality Victor Reinz seals all the time that are new and fail or split within a month of use...
NOS or not they aren't worth a squat really... In my opinion that is...

You could buy them, fling them in the air, and catch them with chopsticks. [yes grasshopper]

Re: NOS shelf life...valve seals
Hey Ralph, check these out...
Enginetech | The Rebuilder's Valve Stem Seal
I got some for mine, although I haven't gotten around to installing them, but they seem like a very good quality seal, plus...they'resilicone, so they shouldn't break down over time. I did mine the first time and I used Felpro "Premium", put probably 20K on them, and they already hardened and started to crack. I'd suggest the silicone ones, I got mine at Grooms engines in Nashville (it's close to where I live) and they were, IIRC, $0.50 each or so, you can call the company and they can probably tell you where to get them near you.
Here's some pretty interesting info on valve stem seals...materials, etc.
Valve Stem Seals Materials/Designs, Larry Carley, Automotive Rebuilder, July 1998
Good luck.

Re: NOS shelf life...valve seals
thanks!.... i'm just buying stuff ahead of time so I don't have to get everything at once
I have a tired 302 2v and c4 tranny/auto on the column.
i know i want some performance under the hood but not sure what i'm doing yet, I'm waiting untill the rest of the car is complete before i do the engine/tranny/rearend,etc
any suggestions are always welcome
I would love to go with a big block but most likely will either keep the 302 block and build from there or look for a 351
