Re: Sheet Metal

dont use anything lower than 16qauge it will be to hard to work with, anything in the range of 20qauge would be ideal as far as where to get it, try the phone book

Re: Sheet Metal

NPD sells partial panels for replacement of the areas you need.

Re: Sheet Metal

I would tell you to try hitting up either Dearborn Classics or Autokrafters. if you are working on a torino/fairlane. Maybe Mac's antique, maybe Dennis Carpenter?
Minimum 20 guage thickness, try to get something galvanized but be careful when welding because the fumes are NOT a good thing to be breathing.
If nothing else, for flat sections, or nothing needing wild bends, look up local metal suppliers for sheet stock.

Have a good one.

Re: Sheet Metal

dont use galvanized as nothing sticks to it i have used in the past but it dont rust but its the same as aluminum it makes a chalky residue and ends up comming off if you have any old fenders or hoods that are scrap you can cut a piece from that ! that what you do when you dont want to pay for a new sheet lol

Re: Sheet Metal

The quarters i ordered measured 22 and the auto bodyshop where i buy sells 22 for doors and fenders, 18 for floors, etc

sometimes you can find sheet stock at an ac/heating supply house, steel dealers and auto body supply shops.

I called a local auto body shop for advice,
the guy was very cool about it and hooked me up with a few different suppliers in my area for sheet stock.welding supplies/gas etc

Re: Sheet Metal

DO NOT USE GALVANIZED sheet metal!!!!! The fumes can kill you!!!! You wont be able to paint it!!!! Just plain 20 gage will work !!!!
