Re: Unique Performance!

That is such a bummer. Unique performance pretty much just sh!t on those people's dreams of having a sweet car. i hope no one went broke to buy one. You shoule really thoroughly check out the shop that you are having build your car.

Any way it goes $100,000 was too much to begin with. I won't have half of that in my 69 Mach 1 rotissiere, 521 CJ, TKO 600, nodular 9"inch and all and it will be a killer car. No filler, all steel!

Re: Unique Performance!

I saw one of the "Unique" cars at Tulsa, summer 2006. I was not impressed, runs in the paint, poor fit and etc. There is an old saying that holds true "An excess of money produces a lack of common sense".

Re: Unique Performance!

I think that happens alot these days. People with too much money and no interest in doing the wrenching. I did not like their cars anyways.

As far as I am concerned matching numbers and all that stuff is fine for the rich and pampered, the la-de-da mentality. Maybe I'm jealous because I let my '68 1/2 428 CJ Mustang go.
But, I do know one thing; that is one FINE ride you got there and I'll bet you're not afraid to drive it like it should be driven. WAY TO GO!

Re: Unique Performance!

i dont know the whole story so i cant say much about the vins but they mentioned in the video they used 13 gallons of bondo per car i find that to be impossible i do body work on high end show cars and although there is alot of filler used on a car you in the gallon or two and most of it is sanded off and you have to do on detail stuff and they mentiond something about the fiberglass well that is how they get the body panels to stick to the car there really is no other way when you put fiberglass parts on a steel car im sure the company does do crappy work i have never seen on in person but i also watched that rides episode a few years back and it does look like a little bit of hack work was going on

in the video it was also mentioned by the PI that they were replicas not the real thing the car was a replica to begin with so im not sure what he thought he was buying maybe he should have resarched it before he blew 106K

No I am not afraid. I appreciate the encouragement too! I bought this car in 1980, my first car for $1500. I have managed to hang on to it all these years. I finally am gettiing it done. It is on a rotissiere and about finished stripping, sanding and straightening. I have a 71 460 block, MS B514CJ Heads, a 4.300 storker crank,.030 over pistons, H beam rods. I am going to run a TKO 600. I already have the rear assembled, original 9", Nodular housing, 31 spline Detriot Locker, 3.70:1. I also have all of the original tach and gauge cluster, console, folding seat and all. It was originally an "M" code 351W 4-V Mach. It is Meadowlark Yellow w/black/gold stripes. It is not a shaker car though. Still wish me luck on finishing it. Hopefuly bring it home rolling in May and fit the engine, transmission to it and get a firend to custom make some headers for it. it will still look all original but have the nicer drivetrain. I figured finsihed for about $30,000. Beats paying $60,000 to $80,000 for a real 428CJ! Will make way more power and have a 5th gear.
