What do you think?

That's the cam I use in the Mustang's 351C 2V engine. Very good cam, not real radical.

Re: 351c street sometimes strip

i got the cam by looking at this ford muscle artical, they took a race 351c4v and de tuned it. took out the huge cam and replace it with the power max
check it out its under 351c cam swap or put 351c cam in google and it the first one

do you think the 3 inch exhast was a bit too big?

Re: 351c street sometimes strip

Ok I got the 2 best cams picked out, one is a comp 280H the other is the crane H288-2 Both have about the same lift but the crane has more on the exhaust side. The crane has more duration and a little better rpm range

What do ya think?

Re: 351c street sometimes strip

The Crane H288-2 looks better to me. The Comp 280H is still single pattern.

Re: 351c street sometimes strip

I believe the XE274H (230/236 @ .050) should outperform both of those cams. 2.5" exhaust should be fine. Usually 3" exhaust if your over 500-600hp. That 288H Crane Cams is only 226/230 @ .050 with a 2,500-5,500 operating range. The 280H Comp Cams is 230/230 @ .050 and 2,000-6000 operating range. The XE274H has an operating range of 2000-6000rpms.

Re: 351c street sometimes strip

i would put a bigger cam in but I dont want to replace my already new valve train. The motor has only 5 thousand on it, were the guy replace the cam, springs exc. the cam it has now is only .524 lift so I want to stay in that lift area. btw the crane has a power range of 2400-6200.

Ok so the set up is as follows crane cam H-288-2 (2400-6200) vintage torker intake (3000-7000) hooker headers, and a 750 DP what hp do you think i will have?

I belive my 3 inch exhaust will do fine since it has cut outs for strip and super 44s for the backpressure and streett

will my push rods be ok to reuse, lenght?

Re: 351c street sometimes strip

I think you mistyped some info on the H-288-2 cam. It shows a operating range from 2500-5500rpms.

Re: 351c street sometimes strip

The crane should run to 6k with those components as will the comp. The comp will make more power above 4500 but less under 4000. It is a bigger cam ofcourse .....
What about comps 275DEH? It won't give you the top end of the XE but will give you more bottom end than the crane and not give away much up top?
