Re: rusty cylinder walls?

a comp xe274h cam with those rpm heads will made good power without being radical,i ran those heads and the 274 in my 351w and loved it,youll need different pistons with reliefs for the valves if you have the 2.02 intake valve

the comp cam description says it needs a 2500+ stall. do I understand it correctly as it doesn't make much power below 2500, so the TC is needed to make that up?

Re: rusty cylinder walls?

the comp website has the XE274 listed under EFI roller cams, and the description says:
"Hydraulic Roller-2500 stall, 3.55-3.73 gears, better heads, intake and fuel system. "
Powerband=2200-6200
Duration@ .050"=224/232,
Lift=.555/.565
LSA=112

Under Carb'd roller cams, there are some blower and nitrous cams, and some magnum cams, 270HR and 280HR
270HR
"Hydraulic Roller-Mild street performance. Slight lope at idle. Stock torque converter and gears. Good stock HO replacement."
Powerband=1800-5000
Duration@ .050"=215/215
Lift=.533/.533
LSA=110

280HR
"Hydraulic Roller-Street Machine and limited high performance street use. Best with 5 speed, 3.40 to 4.10, aftermarket intake and headers. Needs stall."
Powerband=2500-6000
Duration@ .050"=224/224
Lift=.560/.560
LSA=110

I downloaded the CamQuest6 program, plugged in some info, and it recommended the 280HR (part numbers 35-430-8 and 35-314-8) and the XE274HR (35-518-8). Would you guys think the 280HR is better or worse than the XE274HR?

Re: rusty cylinder walls?

also, should I get a performer rpm intake as well? The weiand action+ is idle-5500...if the cam is 2000-6000 and heads are 1500-6500, I'd imagine the intake would cause a bottleneck. the performer rpm is the same as the heads, 1500-6500. would I need a bigger carb? the 1406 is a 600cfm, seems to me like that may also cause a bottleneck...basically I just want everything on par, about even so I don't have to keep buying stuff :p

Re: rusty cylinder walls?

oh and as far as the 2.02 valves and piston clearance....I'm thinking of getting the engine rebuild kit off of summit with these pistons
Speed Pro ZH273CP - Speed-Pro Hypereutectic Pistons - summitracing.com
think they will still need to be notched? the reliefs look to be bigger than the stockers
