Custom throttle linkage problem

I built the CTL on the tech article and i cant get the throttle blades to open at the carb but they open with the gas pedal? My problem is the aceel pump seems to be binding also and it wont start until i give it a shot of starter fluid. Im using a holly 4160 with the stock ford kickdown bracket that was used in 62. This is a 390 and i had no problems with the 4100& stock linkage. It seems like the holley linkage needs leverage . As of right now it goes straight backand working the throttlle doesnt move the throttle at all. It only works when you step on the pedal.Thanks.

How does the pedal operate them if you can't do it by hand? Are you pulling the throttle lever back the same way the linkage does?
