Oil pick up help!!!

I Just got a new oil pan thats a 7qt aftermarket Pan. The pan measures 8 inches deep. I dont know who makes the pan (e-bay) but the stock pick up will not reach deep enough. Can't I just buy one thats for an 8 inch depth? does it have to be matched with the pan? Its for a 351c

Help Please

It has to be matched to the pan for proper performance. Sump height and position in the sump, whether it is baffled, front or rear pickup.

The guy had no idea who makes the pan?

Nope no idea. Its a front sump that has a box welded on it to make it deeper. Thats it other then the deepness all the other parts look like stock.

You can have the stock one extended if it comes to that, but it must be checked to be air tight after it has been welded together with an extension in place.

I would go with an aftermarket pick up for an 8 inch pan. You may have to tweek it but it has to be better than cutting and welding the stock part.

Check out the aftermarket pans and buy the pick up for the one that is clostest to what you have. It should be an easy adjustment from there.

If it's this one: eBay Motors: Raw 1970-80 Ford 351C 351M 400 Front Sump Oil Pan (item 230253146359 end time May-22-08 20:39:49 PDT)
then try a Milodon #18355 because the pan looks like a knock off of a #30927. The Milodon part with thread into a regular Melling HV pump.

Yeah thats the one. The pick up is to an 8 quart and I have a 7, but your right it looks just like it. I think that I will have no choice to just buy anther cheap 5qt pan and sell the one i bought. well live and learn

hey any one want the pan? $50 with the gasket set
