Cougar headers with AOD

I have 1967 Cougar XR7 with 302 and 4R70W transmission. The transmission is comparable in size to AOD, AODE and C6.
So do you know which headers would fit 67' Cougar or Mustang with 302 and AOD, AODE or C6 transmission?
I tried Hooker Competitions, but those didn't fit from drivers side, even with small modifications.

Re: Cougar headers with AOD

I fit hooker comps in my small block 68 mustang with an AOD but it wasn't fun. There was a baseball bat involved.

Re: Cougar headers with AOD

Call Stan @ FPA. He's a straight-up guy and really knows his product. As I recall, his Early Mustang/Cougar headers were patterned around a smallblock/C6 combo. Had a set of his Mustang/351W step-tube headers in my '72 Torino w/ a C6 tranny and didn't have to touch a thing. Can't say enough about them. Finest headers I've ever bought/installed.

Talk to him... he'll help you if he can.

Re: Cougar headers with AOD

My Hooker Comps hit on the passenger side right at the outlet flange and the side of the tranny pan. I modified the headers to make them work.

Re: Cougar headers with AOD

I would think since the AOD and 4r70w is closer to an FMX any headers that fit an FMX would work fine but I know the pan is a little bit wider and I know the tranny is longer so dont quote me on it working 100%
