SideOiler Leaking

It looks like there is either a shadow on the right rear head / manifold area. Is it an oil stain coming from the intake head junction?

Yes Paul, it was. Those were my iron MR heads with FailPros, replaced by Shelby's aluminums with Victors. There are no leaks other than the problem now.
Thanks for the check ball education. Is the check ball for the PV in the passage in the metering block? I can't recall seeing one but the carbs now have the "anti backfire" PV,s.
Knowing Phil, he probably accidentally dropped one of the balls and chucked the other figuring I'd never know the difference.
Any confirmation of the galley plug idea now that it's visible? It's really looking like I just gotta get in there and R&R them.

The power valve check ball location depends on the age of your carb. If it wasn't equipped from the factory with the anti-backfire valve then someone would have had to install the kit from Holley for it to have one. The kits are available and they are easy to install.

I don't see any oil from the galley plugs. get a black light (they have them in compact flourescent) and shine it on the plugs. Any oil will glow and show up. If you see any then R&R the plug and reseal.

That bottom plug nearest the crank flange looks dark/oily. Was it? Do you see any oil between the crank flange and the bearing cap?

Yes, it was dark (don't know why) but not wet with oil. The crank flange area was clean as you can see. There was no drip at the cap parting lines. The cap was this clean in March when I did the pan R&R, so I really doubt it's the main seal.
These pictures were taken in '95 I believe.

Oh, those are not recent pictures? I thought you had run out and dropped the trans.

I worked in a machine shop many years ago. Never did see a gallery plug get loose but have seen the plug at the rear of the cam leak oil.

No, these were when clutch was upgraded and f'wheel cut around 1995-6. I plan to leak and drive during the nice weather and repair during the winter lay-over.
