defrent heigth at top dead cnter

I took the head off the right side of my 306 yesturday and seen something a little strang to me,the piston heigth on the second cylider seems to be alot further in the cylinder than the others at top dead center, makes me think the piston pin location is defrent in that cylinder.I was just making sure that I am not crazy and that they all should be pretty close to the same.Any input would be appr. Thanks Chad.

Re: defrent heigth at top dead cnter

Usually when I see one piston down further than the rest, I think of a bent rod.

Check the DEPTH at the bottom of the stroke and see if they stroke the same.

Bent rod is a possibility, but so is diffrent pin offset, in a piston made my another manufacturer...

Re: defrent heigth at top dead cnter

I am going to take a look tonight and see if I can determing what is going on.the piston is in the cylinder about 115 thousands further than the others when messured at top dead center for each.I have not taking the head of the other side yet to check to see if any on that side are defrent, will do that also.

Re: defrent heigth at top dead cnter

Took it apart last night and wouldn't you know it ,had a bent rod this came from a brand new 30lb injector that was stuck open from the factory.I have put around a thousand miles on it since that happened with no signs of anything wrong, just took heads of to port match them and noticed the problem.Glad I did as this is going to see boost in a couple of months. Thanks Chad

Wow, glad you found it and I'm glad the car ran after hydrolocking like that!

Good luck on the bottle

Re: defrent heigth at top dead cnter

stuck injector? Jeez that doesn't happen very often. I guess that they're just stock I-beam rods? They bend easily...but in a way that is good! If it was an H beam rod or an aluminum rod, it would have most likely broken something (head, crank, rod, etc).

Yeh it was brand new injector. The rod is stock I have h-beams,but will use them when I build a aftermarket block.I am using the stock block 306 to set my turbo up before I build the other engine.
