4 speed conversion and neutral safety switch

I am in the works with a conversion on a 1966 mustang to a toploader conversion. I have most of the installation figured out but on an automatic it has a neutral safety switch, what do you do with this hook up. Do you by pass it or is there a wire hook up that is used.

Thanks
Greg

just jump it or can hook a switch to the clutch pedal like late models if your safety minded

Yeah, I'd wire up the NS switch to a switch on the clutch pedal.

Re: 4 speed conversion and neutral safety switch

I have my NS switch wired to a hidden switch so the car cannot be started by just anyone.

Re: 4 speed conversion and neutral safety switch

So there is no safety switch on the standard cars. Did the factory not hook any bypass wire or they just didn't hook anything to complete the circuit.

Re: 4 speed conversion and neutral safety switch

The standards had a reverse light switch on the trans. The reverse light switch is a 4 prong plug and plugs into the neutral safety location in the engine compartment. One half of the plug is the reverse lights and the other side is jumped. The jumped side (red wire) is where the C4 wires would have been if the car were to have been an automatic.

Thank you.

I thought about my back up lights prior to posting this thread and with those pic's this should work out.
