Re: oil pan questions

30 minutes is a long time for it to start causing problems but an exhaust leak and noisy lifters usually don't cause oil pressure problems or harsh vibrations.Have you tried to remove the oil pressure sending unit and put a mechanical gauge on it to see what the actual oil pressure is or if it fluctuates before or after it heats up?Also is the ticking coming from the top side of the engine or the bottom end?If it is vibrating is the vibration coming from collapsed lifters causing a miss or is it from the bearings in the bottom end beating everything to death.Buy or borrow a cheap oil pressure gauge before you condemn the engine. If it is bad I would install the 352 and rebuild the original engine as money and time allows.Nice looking car I wouldn't dump it over a bad engine.

True, I guess I'm just not paying attention. Someone suggested exhaust leak and I ran with it.

I second your recommendation...

Re: oil pan questions

its just ticking on the passenger side,,so i took the valve cover pan off and its kinda dry in there ,,not much oil is coming out of the pushrods at all ,,matter of a fact two of them dont look like they are oiling at all..it does have a doughnut gasket leaking on the drivers side a little bit ..but after it runs for awhile and im guessing 30 minutes it starts ticking and the idiot light inside starts to flicker..rev it up the light goes off but the ticking is still there..yesterday i let it run and it started ticking and i just let it tick away and all of a sudden it stopped ticking for about 5 minutes ,,i thought its a miracle its alive its alive,,then it started ticking again ..( i shut it off and walked back in the house ..

Re: oil pan questions

big differance between a 302 and a FE 352 --motor mounts-- radiator [outlets on opp sides]

bell houseing-- flex plate-- exhaust pipes will have to be changed--
