Help No Spark

I cant figure out the life of me whats wrong with this thing. I put in a brand new msd coil and distributor and msd 6al ignition system for my 331 stroker. i have no power to the coil i have check everything i had the msd check out and they said it was fine. i made sure all the wire were hooked up right and the only one that doesnt seem to be right is the orange wire. It has now power to it now the white wire does but i was told i am not suppose to use that if i am using the magnetic pickup wires which i have hooked up but still nothing. Can i please get some good advice

PUT A POWER WIRE TO YOUR COIL...

How hard can that be? You said you have NO power to your coil. I think you should change that.

Hey, welcome to FM by the way

Re: Help No Spark

Orange goes to Coil positive Black to coil negative, the purple and green wire goes to magnetic pickup. The heavy red wire goes DIRECTLY to battery positive, the thick black wire goes DIRECTLY to battery ground.

can be real hard on the coil. MSD triggers the coil w/+ wire . not like a points coil , grounded by points .

Re: Help No Spark

ok i change the coil because i hooked it up wrong the first time. Never had a msd system before so i fried the coil the first time. Change it out and i hooked all the wires up like they are suppose to but still nothing. Get this i watch them test the msd box and it worked great. i put it back in my car and there is power going in but nothing going out.

And the small red wire goes to key on... box won't come on if the small red does not have power. Do not attach directly to battery.

Leave the white wire alone if you are using a magnetic pickup.

Sure it will damage it but NOT quickly. You have a good 10 minutes 12V feed key off time before the coil even get's hot.

Re: Help No Spark

I was talking about a 12Volt COIL, not about an MSD box...

I'm not savvy on MSD stuff, and I totally didn't notice that everything he was talking about was MSD....
