RHS Heads?

I just picked up my 393 stroker short block, so now its time to choose heads. I have had my heart set on a set of afr 205s but just out of curiosity i have been getting data on all brands. I was woundering if any one has used the RHS 200ccc aluminum head. It seems to me to be a step between the afr185 but a step below the afr205 flow wise. These days price has a impact on my purchase and the RHS is very cost friendly, but i dont want to buy a piece if junk either. Does any one know anything about RHS?

Re: RHS Heads?

I haven't used the RHS heads personally but I have heard very good things about them....The only issues I have heard have been lack of availability but I think they are better now...

Re: RHS Heads?

I have built several engines with the RHS 200 heads. Out of the box, they are going to be well below the AFR 185 CNC heads. With some good porting, they can be made to get almost as good as the AFR CNC 205 heads. If you cannot get them ported, you will loose about 30 to 40 from the AFR heads, With ported RHS heas, The 347 I built made 508 HP, which was pretty good

Re: RHS Heads?

Also for a 393 the 215s would probably be a better choice..Maybe they would give you the extra flow over the 200s without any porting..

Re: RHS Heads?

That was actually going to be my next question! I also like the trick flow cnc 205cc twisted wedge track heat heads but they are the same price as the afr.

Re: RHS Heads?

NO WAY IN HELL-- If you had them hand ported you MIGHT get close--Why are you doing this to yourself ??

Re: RHS Heads?

ok just curious, i will just have to be patient and save my pennies to get the afr205cc or trickflow twisted wedge cnc 205cc like i originally wanted. Just out of curiosity while we are on the subject ware do the victor jr stand against the rest of the heads i have asked about??

Re: RHS Heads?

The vic jrs are a good head but not in the same league as the CNC ported heads in out of the box form...I think Big Joe has said they are down about 50hp compared to a AFR205....
Also once you get into heads with the valve angles changed from stock like the twisted wedges they start to perform better as well...Just make sure you have pistons that will work with them..

Lots of good reading here although it is probably a little biased towards the AFR stuff..Some good comparisons in the bottom 4 headswap part...
