Re: Curved Monte carlo Bar
FE is right about this one. That bar is for road racing improvement anyway. It is not part of a rollcage or for protection. It is part of a system for improved handling. If you bend one, you got problems that only a rollcage would help!

+1 I run the curved bar with a one-piece export brace.

Re: Curved Monte carlo Bar
99.99% of the cars never had one in the first 40 or so years of life on the road. I don't believe I ever saw a car that collapsed in on its self even after rusting completed apart.

Re: Curved Monte carlo Bar
I will go with a curved bar then, only because I can't fit a straight one. Even though I may not notice a difference in handling, I will at least keep my shock towers from moving in any further.

Re: Curved Monte carlo Bar
I put a bar on my Falcon and it fit perfect. Either the guy who made it screwed up or my fenders haven't moved. I removed the shock tower braces and installed the MPG bars.
I really didn't notice any difference in handling that could be measured. Maybe because I have the better of the Ford cars.

Re: Curved Monte carlo Bar
i have plans to make one. My own style, that will hopefully replace the export and monte bar. Problem is I dont have a motor in the car to see if it will work and the room I have.
Like said the difference will be so minimal between the two you will never reep the benefits and max out the strength of the curved bar even though the straight bar is stronger.

Re: Curved Monte carlo Bar
Curtis,
Like the bar in the profile pic........looks nice., I got to get one too. I'm learning towards the chrome curved one. I know my X brace made a huge improvement once I installed it. Prior the car would shake the front end going down the hwy. I don't plan on lifting the front tires 3 feet in the air and slamming the brakes.........that would most likely make me have to go change my underpants.......
