reverse high?

The disc spring is the flat plate spring in the bottom of the forward clutch drum..The high/reverse uses a normal type spring.

The disc spring is actually called a bellville spring when you go to buy one.

reverse high?

Starting to sound like a C-5 with the wave spring in the direct clutch pack.
Looks a lot like a steel plate but with a wave to it?
I would get some pressure paltes and snap rings and get a stack of plates and frictions that make the right clearance.
The wave spring will cushion the 2-3 shift and that is not a good thing.

the book i have is for a c5. the trannys are a 67 and 70 model c4s .what i need to know is, did either of my c4s have these springs . because if they did, i don't remember either one having these when i tore into them.
this is how i installed the clutches. i started with a steel then a friction, steel, friction, steel, friction, steel, friction. then last two were the pressure plate and the retaining ring. the clearance was at .035 . let me know if this is right.

Yours sounds ok.The disc spring i meant was #37 in the diagram.
Mario might be onto something too.A c5 has the wave plate..Just leave it out if that's what you mean and go with the steels/clutches like you've done.
