C4 behind 400M?

I'm told that the only way to put a C4 behind a 400M engine is to find the C4 bellhousing and flexplate made to fit the 400M block (only '71?). There's a lot of confusion here. What bellhousing?

In other words, if you wanted to bolt a C4 (in this case a '77 panfill) to a 400M engine, how would you do it? Thanks

Well the 400 is a big block bell as i recall.
You need a big block bell for a C4 and the proper flexplate think is 164 tooth.
then you should be in business

C4 behind 400M?

400M & 351M both came with a C-4 in several cars & years. Same boly pattern as a 460. Flywheel won't be a problem either.

Mostly found behind 351M engines - same pattern as a 400 and 429/460. There is also an adapter bell from JW I think - <$300 from Summit Racing. JW and others have various 164 tooth flywheels to get the converter connected.
