Why isn\'t Kickdown Necessary?

I have a D5, pan fill, rollerized C-4 in my 79 Coupe with 351W. It has the Gregaust stage IV valve body modification from burly4x4.com. I hooked up a Lokar C-4 kickdown cable, and my friend says that the kickdown is not necessary. I disagree. I feel that at WOT on the strip, with a basically stock V.B., I need all the line pressure I can get for the firmest of shifts. I'm no expert, but I'm hoping somebody here more knowledgeable can explain WHY it is, or is not necessary. Thanks for any replys. (I got $5.00 riding on the answer

I agree that kickdown is a good thing to have on a car with an automatic VB. Like you said the kickdown can increase line pressure and that will help the tranny live on the high HP shifts.
Don't know if I am enough of an expert to do the job for you though.
