Much more likely to be the seal but a closer look with the tranny out would tell you. Either one means a tranny R&R.

Front tranny seal and pump gasket removal procedures...

1. Take it out....

2. Replace gasket and seal....

3. Re-install...

4. Run it!

Pump seal can be replaced without removing pump from tranny. Carefully pry it out, then using some light sealer carefully reinstall.

Pump gasket gets more complicated because the clutch drums have a way of followinjg the pump out or just being pulled out of place.
Tighten front band tight to hold direct clutch in. after getting pump just loose from it seat in the tranny hold the clutches in while removing. Clean up the gaskets and replace. Should take a good look at pump bushing while you are here. Reinstall and adjust band.

okay guys got the transmission out. pulled the converter off and there is no oil leaking in the bellhousing. at least i think. the converter and front seal look fine. there is no scoring or scratches on the converter hub so does that mean my front seal is fine. how do i tell where this leak is comming from. should i pull the front pump to inspect the gasket? i have pic on my cardomain site. here is the link.
