How good is PA old transbrake. I am using it for a .500 protree.

Now while I am an older slower reacting guy the best I could do on a .500 Pro tree was a .640.
I run around .900 delay on a standard 3 amber tree so the brake and my car react slowly. But my brother uses the same delay on a car that will 60 ft a 1.32.
Have not heard anything on PA's new Pro brake yet, it should be better.

Is this like that with other C4 brakes. Can't you speed up the car's reaction.

A friend runs a Fairbanks I think and he has about 1.0 in his box so it would cut a light on a .500 tree.
Do not know about the rest, C-4's with brakes are not common here.

Mario428 Does your brake have a pressure switch on it. Is this to lock it out from working in other gears. What type of transbrake button do you have. Is it adjustable.

Our "old" PA brake is slow, we leave off the 2nd amber on a .400 full tree which makes TOTAL reaction time (me/brake release and car) around .8...or is it 1.2? Whatever...its slow. I think it could be sped up abit but it would mean a larger solenoid. The way it works is by releasing pressure in one of the valves in the VB , when you have your finger on the button. This "release" of pressure engages the direct clutch. When you take your finger off the button that valve must be engaged again to release the direct.....and it does so through a VERY small hole in the seperator plate....hence the slow brake release.
If you increased the size of the hole in the seperator plate to get more flow to that valve, I don't think the solenoid bleed off (size) would be large enough to handle the addition flow and the brake most likely wouldn't work. To put it simply, fluid flows thru a small hole into an area that has a valve and the solenoid connected to it. The solenoid allows the fluid to drain out of the area because the small hole is restricting flow so much, the solenoid can drain it faster than the hole can supply it. When the solenoid is closed, the small hole must fill the area again and move the valve (which has a stout spring behind it) to its "on" position ....to release the direct and "free" the trans.
I'm sure it could be done, but would take some carefull experimenting with a larger hole size solenoid and enlarging the bleed hole to suit.

No pressure switch, the only gear it can lock up in is 1st, if the tranny is in 2nd gear applying the brake just shifts to high gear. My button is not adjustable, it and me are not the reason for the delay I have, my car does react somewhat slowly due to a lot of front end travel but not enough to justify what is in my delay box.
Like CMF60 says the brake and the way it works in the problem. I figured out how it worked when I got it and was not surprised when it turned out to be slow.
I only run a full .500 tree so it does not matter to me. The brake works well and my tranny does not kill parts.

How long did you have the VB. Did you ever call PA on this. I had a rev VB that I got in 1994 and for $60 they updated it last year. They might have some updates for the transbrake.
Mario428: I wasn't thinking it was you or your button. I know you can buy faster button to help this. Biondo racing products has some different type of buttons. I just want to find out if I can do something to make the release quicker.
