c4 kickdown

i just swapped the aod out of my 90 mustang for a c4. do i have to run a kick down linkage? someone told me this controls line pressure, i dont know anything about tranny's so sorry for the dumb questions. i drove the car, it seems to shift good, but a friend of mine said the shifts are to "soft". any advice would be appreciated.thanks

No kickdown required on the c4.It doesn't control line pressure.

The AOD had a TV cable that controls the line pressure and also acts as a kick down. Like Greg said the C4 doesn't, it uses a vacuum modulator to sense engine load.

Most C4's use a rod for kickdown linkage, which would be hard to make work if your stang is FI. But Lokar makes a cable for the C4 that can be used.
