Hey,
I have a C-4 from 1964 with a spline of 24. I have it installed in a 1969 mustang. I want to upgrade my torque converter, but most of the after market torque converters have 26 spline. I have a 70 transmission in the garage that has a 26 splin input shaft. Would i be able to just switch the 2 input shafts. I did notice that the 26 spline shaft has 24 spline count on the part that is actually inside that trans, but the part that sticks out from the trans has a 26 spline count!
i hope i didnt confuse you!
Thansk alot
Matt

Important info!
Your transmission from 1970 must be manufactured after 1971!
1970 C4 is unique and is the only C4 with 26splines input shaft in both ends.
I got one dated 1970.
1971-1986 they all got 26/24 splines input shaft.
I would absolutely not use the 1964 C4! It is not the performer choise.
The 1970- C4 has an 164 tooth bellhousing VS your 157 tooth 1964 C4
But you can use the old 1964 bellhousing onto the 1971
It will look strange since the older bellhousing attaches to the oilpump but it works.
Here how it looks on a previous 1970 C4 i got.
