C4 Kickdown rod

Does anyone know if there is a difference between the kickdown rod from a '70 Mustang with 302/C4 combo as opposed to a '70 Mustang 351/C4 combo?

In other words, can I use a kickdown rod from a 302/C4 ('70) in my 351W/C4 ('70)?

Thanks

It is probably a bit longer but if you can get the adjustment right you can use it.

Re: C4 Kickdown rod

whats the original length of the c4 302 kickdown rod cause i install a holley 600cfm carb and the rod is like too long and we were thinking that owner before us might have modified it cause when we got it the carb that was on it was a GM carb and we are having problems with the rod

I've run into that before, but it should be OK, just spread out one of the bends (as the firewall permits) as long as you keep the same geometry. Measure the travel of the downshift lever, (abt 3/4") and as long as you still have that travel when your done, you should be golden. Good Luck!

Re: C4 Kickdown rod

Be sure to adjust the linkage so that with the rod pushed all the way toward the tranny and the throttle held wide open you have .060" clearance between the adjusting screw and the lever at the carb. As long as that adjustment is made then it will work fine.
