Advise On Modifications

I have deceided to buy a ATI transbrake valve body for my c-4. It comes with a new servo and cover which I'm going to install. I'm also going to adjust the bands and put on new lock nuts. The transmission is all stock(rebuilt). The only thing that isn't is the ATI stall converter. Is their any other things I should do to the trans. I'll be using it at the track and on the street. I know I need to make sure I don't hit the transbrake button when I'm driving it on the street. I want to get all I can out of the converter, thats why I'm going with a transbrake. I've also got a trans cooler on with a fan mounted to it. Thanks, for your advise.

Re: Advise On Modifications

When you load the C4, all the force is against the rear of the case. There is a thrust washer in that position that is not well lubricated. With a trans-brake I would suggest you replace that thrust washer with a thrust bearing kit from Broader Performance. It is the #9 thrust bearing kit. It comes with a new inner race for the one way clutch and the bearing. all you have to do is install it and then recheck your end-play when you get the transmission assembled again.
If you don't do anything to the #9 thrust washer it is likely to spin, breaking the tabs that are supposed to hold it in place, and ruining the case. I would also recommend an extra clutch in the forward and direct clutch packs and the use of at least an "A" servo. The "H" servo is better and the best is the rare "C" servo.
More than that would depend on the amount of HP that your engine produces but those mods should be good for up to 400 - 500HP.
