Issues

I recently put a TCI trans brake valve body in my C4. I went through the transmission when I did it to freshen it up and tighten up the clearences. With the transmission back in and the car up on jackstands I can take off in 1st gear shift to 2nd (it's hard to tell if it shifrts to 2nd, but I know that's normal) but when I shift to third it locks up the rear wheels. Do you think it is a valve body issue or did I do something wrong on the rebuild?

Re: Issues

Sounds like something is definitely not right!
I heard of this problem before....

Can't remember the repair for it though...

I'd remove the VB and TRIPPPLE check that everything was installed correctly, Double Tripple check that YOUR VB is the correct year for the Kit you installed into it, and make sure the trans brake activation method isn't activated when it's shifted into 3rd gear...

That's all the sage advice I can give ya...

Re: Issues

Well the valve body was the problem. This was a brand new TCI pro tree brake, and I had nothing but problems with it. I first put it in and made three good launches in the driveway, and then it wouldn't hold. I pulled it out and sent it back to TCI they checked it out and said there was nothing wrong with it. I pulled the transmission out and freshened it up,and found no problems with it. I then put the pro tree brake back in it. After that I had the problem with the tires locking up when I went to third. Finally I pulled out the pro tree valve body and put my old performance automatic reverse manual valve body back in and now I have all three gears, and it shifts great.
