Mystery C-4 Part

I am in the process of rebuilding a C-4 from an 86 mustang Which lost reverse and its 1st to second shift. When i removed the pan i found a mystery part floating around in it. I have since went through and performed all of the required rebuild steps. However i have yet to find a place for this to go. I don't know much about the history of this car but i think the trans has been into once befor. I woudl like to have some idea where this part goes befor reassembly if it even belongs in the trans. Please see attached picture.

Re: Mystery C-4 Part

That's the lollipop stick. It was used during assembly to plug the dip stick tube hole. Then the person on the assembly line would just push the dipstick tube straight in the hole and push the lollipop into the transmission pan.

There it will stay, floating around till someone take the pan off.

Just toss it, has no purpose now.

LOL.

No purpose? I know a guy that needs dozens of them.
