FMX bell mod for C4 to FE?

Someone mentioned modifying an FMX bellhousing to mate a C4 to an FE. If this is true, what mods are done? Any other interesting adaptations that don't require aftermarket adapters?

TIA,
David

PS: The search engine on this forum does not allow short words like 'C4' or 'FE'. Any way around that? I'm sure there's tons of info in the archives that is unsearchable due to this crippling restriction.

I build my own FE-C4 bellhousings but I prefer a pan fill type pattern. The FMX bellhousing does not have a large enough face to allow that to be done. The FMZ bellhousing also has the large starter pocket for the old style pull in starter drive which would not fit in some tight tranny tunnels.
I cut the bellhousing off a C-6 and weld a plate on to make mine.
The FMX may work for a case fill pattern, may check it out at some point.

Whoa - that's impressive. Thanks for the pic! I wonder if a C4 back-half and C6 front could be TIGed with a step plate. My lathe won't swing anything THAT big. Do you have a trick for easily locating the relative centers?

Blow by blow story of the making.
I have a 2 inch thick peice of an FE block I use for a mounting fixture, locate off the main bearing hole.
