lost forward gears!

Hi everyone, rebuilt my c4 a few months ago using a lot of advise from this forum.Did some oiling mods, kolene steels, kevlar bands, pa servo, hughes full manual valve body etc.Was very carefull with clutch pack clearances and used the Haynes book as well as this forum for the build up. Has been working great on the street, but on my first pass up the strip yesterday, by the time i got to the end of the quartermile i had lost all forward gears. I still have reverse, but thats all. Still managed a 12 @110 though!! Any ideas greatfully received before i take the trans out. Thanks in advance.

Re: lost forward gears!

Will be an issue with the forward clutch.. Maybe broken belleville spring?

Re: lost forward gears!

[Greg, just stripped the trans and all looks pretty good, except the five bolts connecting the stator support to the pump had all backed off about 2/3 turns!! Do you reckon this could have been the problem, i had to rev it pretty good to get reverse so i could back it in to the garage, but no forward gears at all of course.

Serious pressure loss there, definitly the problem, relatively an easy fix luckily.
Need all the info to diagnose a problem, poor reverse does change it.
Hopefully your cluches and stuff are fine and you can reassemble. Take a good look at you sealing rings in case they got damaged flopping around.
