Meagain,
I returned your PM.
For others, if your C4 has a tag bolted to the servo cover the numbers on it is the best way to identify the transmission. if that fails the next best way is the date code by the shift lever in conjuction with the stamped part number at the top rear of the case. If you can't find that then the letter on the front servo (BIG cast-in letter) and the diameter or number of splines on the input shaft. The location of the vent will tell if it is before 71 or after so that can help.
If you can get some real close pics it helps too.

That is the last 8 digits of the VIN of the vehicle that it was originally in. Unless you have a list of all of the VINs Ford used, that number is essentially worthless beyond POSSIBLY pointing to the vehicle year.

As Paul said, tag numbers are the be all and end all of Ford IDs.

I did a google search and found the info. Remember that Google is your friend when you want to know something.

According to the code you havs a 69 C4 but according to the shaft you have a 70 C4. It is a dual range C4 from a 302 2bbl.
It will work fine in your application - I sent the recommended mods in PM
That one is a keeper!
