Automatic Kickdown????

I swapping a c4 for a rebuilt c6 in my 70 torino. Anyways, my big question is this... I have a Holley 650 DP that is not normally recommended for ford's unless you install a lokar or similar kickdown kit. I want to keep the 650 DP due to the fact of running NOS and a better overall carb.

So, do I keep the 650 DP and install the kickdown (how difficult is the install?), or do I go back to Summit and excahnge for the cheaper 750 due to having the kickdown installed?

Please advise, I probably already answered my own question, but need some direction since my motor is due back from the machiners tomorrow.

Yes there are some kits that might bolt on to give that carb a Kickdown link depends on exact model you have or as you know a cable setup.

Re: Automatic Kickdown????

Holley makes a Ford kick-down linkage for the carb. Then all you need is the rod from the wrecking yard or pull a part.
If you are capable you can make one.
The only critical length is that you have .060" gap between the carb lever and the adjustment screw with wide open throttle and the kick-down fully depressed.

Re: Automatic Kickdown????

Thank bud, I think I may go the Holley or Lokar route. Fabbing is a non-issue. I just know the 650 DP will give me more gain in the long run.

Thanks fellas!
