c4 casting #s

d7bp-7976-aa is it 164 tooth and 11 7/16 bolt pattern or a 157 tooth because i have a new fly wheel and the teeth are smoothed over to flat edges.theres a rubbing sound...i have a 302 and a c4 that was converted from a c5...is there a website i can go to that will recomend the right flexplate or torq converter for the casting # on bellhousing,i have a 1977 converter on it,,its in a 86 fox body..new motor started right up after i assembled and has this rubbin hum sound..i can rev it up and it goes away..i had wrong stater from a diff year stang on it,now i will put 77 starter from a stang on it..

Is a 164 tooth.

I doubt that you will find any website matching converters to bells for the simple reason that there is NO converter part number standardization between the various makers and rebuilders of converters.

If you have a small V8 bell the 164 tooth plate will not fit.If you have the 164 tooth bell on the small gear then the starter will not engage. Some starters will rub on the gear - usually it is because a manual transmission starter is being used on an auto transmission. They use different starters.

He has a big V8 bell requiring a 164T flexplate. D7 bells were first used in 1977 and the 157T flexplate, at least for C4s, was last used in 1976.
