Re: I need advice (c4)

Klu,
What area are you in?
At 18 psi on a 347 you are getting an honest 800hp at the rear wheels so you need to have the advantage of 7 clutches in the forward pack, 6 clutches in the direct pack, teflon sealing rings, 180 - 200 psi line pressure and (I hate to say it) carbon and Kevlar linings throughout. You also need about 60000 pound (towing capacity) cooler and a host of other mods to the case, pump and stator support.
Since the C4 that you have was built for 550 HP and you have nearly doubled that now - you simply need a transmission that will work with that much power.

Hey! if they sold you the transmission with documentation that says it is good for 1000 HP then I would be calling the builder and having a serious conversation with them. (duly politically correct)

It does not happen often but sometimes I have to restrict the language I use.

If I had something to go by I think I could. That's the only thing on my car that I had hired to be done. What book or what can I get to learn all the right ways to do this? Thanks for all the help

Bloke, for what its worth, most all the hard parts are there if it's PA's box. Get yourself a Haynes manual as a guide and use this forum for the required mods. You wont find an easier trans to do, and you won't find better guidance than the fellas that post here. I put about 600hp through mine on the bottle. It took a while to work out "those little things" to keep it together, but here is where the knowledge came from. Good luck with it.

The Haynes Tech Book is called Ford Automatic Transmissions
It is available at most parts houses.
You can get more clutches in kit form if you contact Jay at Broader Performance.
