First Time Drag Strip 10am Saturday..Any Estimates?
Going to the track in 13 hours for the first time in 10 years (with me racing). I'm so excited can't wait, weather is looking like 65 and sunny.
Any estimates on what I might run?
1967 Mustang Coupe (no a/c or heater box, fairly light)
345HP Ford Racing 302 Crate
C4 2500 Stall
3.70 9"
275/40/17 M/T Drag Radials
13's I hope, but what you guys think?

First time to strip is always a nervous experience. I think car just from
hp # alone could go low-mid 13's. But on a first trip, there is always bugs
to work out, I'm saying 14.50's. Any suspension mods? I'd guess car is about 3100 lbs, best of luck and kept us posted.
It's so darn fun. Make sure your hand isn't shaking to bad when you pick up your time slip, mine sure was. I was pumped up on adrenaline...

You should run well into in the 13s..The only thing iffy I see in your combo is maybe the torque converter is a little tight for good launches?...My combo with a 4 speed and 4.11s ran 13.70s and I was only making about 270ish hp according to the calculators.
I did uncork the headers and removed the power steering belt to get those numbers as well..In true street form with sticky tires I ran a best of 13.98...Without the sticky tires I was running mid to high 14s.

Re: First Time Drag Strip 10am Saturday..Any Estimates?
Well little dissapointed, got a best of 14.0@100, 2.0 60ft. Thats with me leaving it in drive and it shifted at 4800. I think mid 13's are in order if I shifted it manually 5600-5800rpm.
One problem I have is I can't break torque the car past 1100rpm without it wanting to move. Is that cause my torque converter is too tight?

That means you need about at least a 3500 stall converter to really get the job done. The rated stall speed is almost allways way off. ( like in your case)too bad .

That 4800rpm shift point is also killing you.
Of course, as Joe said, the first 60ft are the most important when it comes to good et's.
Find a way to launch it harder, then shift it at 6k rpm!
Good Luck!

The good news is you've got a decent mph that should see you well into the 13s...A higher shift point and a higher launch and your there no problem if you can get it to hook.
