Re: Finally!! Got the 10 sec slip!!

It is a Chris Alston 4link setup. Solid ends with a 31x18.5-15 quick time pro.

GREAT LAUNCH!!! That's why they call CFR "the House of HOOK". Hope to see there in `08 . I'm trying to get my `47 Ford Coupe ready to run better for the strip. I'm tried of Car Shows. Good Luck in `08.

I just recieved my 1-3/4" longtubes from George Class at Accufab for the new 347 that have the 3" wide bolt spacing
Havent tryed to fit them yet,but they look badass compared to hooker super comps
And to think that my 65 stang engine bay is way tighter then your 70

Stoker... what heads are you using and what mounts do you have?
I use accufabs in my 65... and to say they are tight is an understatement.
I had to move #1... but in the end they are a nice, big header.
They look huge in that engine bay.
Just do not get them coated before you have a chance to fit them?

I will be ussing Canfield 20* 195cc
I have Ron Morris adjustable motor mounts
George Class assures me they will fit,so i am good with that
He did send them uncoated/unpainted tho...........
The wider 3"spread bolt pattern will be a welcome change
I am tired of fighting those nasty shock towers when changing plugs,so they are gonna get some rework this time around
getting close to dropping the 347 in the car, cant wait
goal is to make 420RWH with great street manners

That's right, be a man about it!!!!

I took this route too after screwing with dimpled and rubbing fenders for years. I just lowered the motor in the car, trial fit the headers, marked the offending areas, removed the motor, and tapped away with a hammer where there might be some interference. The shock towers will dimple quite easily--I tapped them in using a block of wood for shaping (instead of individual hammer hits directly on the sheet metal) and so it actually looks like a factory job. It really wouldn't be hard to remove the springs and knock them back into place should you decide to undo the mod in the future.

If this is directed to me, yes I have the 9.5" deck in a 65'. A 387 is a 393 crank/rods with a std. 4" bore. Careful planning and a little creativity helps this thing fit between the shock towers and under the hood. Even run a Vic Jr intake! The only things that are real tight in there are the 1 3/4" headers and the factory z-bar for the clutch. Plug changes are really easy, but require a short socket that gets turned with wrench.

Re: Finally!! Got the 10 sec slip!!

thanks for posting pic Dennis
Clean looking install
I trial fitted my 1-3/4" accufab longtubes today and wow was i impressed compared to the old 1-5/8 Hooker Super Comps
the ground clearence is way better and i now will be able to get full steeering travel even with my longer "shelby quick steer" pitman and idler arms
The 3" spread bolt pattern is a huge plus when installing and no more pinched/hourglass tubes
For $500.00 Accufab is the way to go,now i have to get them coated
