Cut 620 Coil Springs and Drag Racing

My 620 coil springs are cut (3/4 coil) to lower my Mustang to a desired ride height. When the car is raised in front the a-arms drop and the coil springs are not pushing against the shock tower and spring perches because they are too short (they drop around 1.5"). Is there anyone drag racing 620 springs and had the coil springs not seat correctly after launching because of this?

Sounds like you need a rubber spacer under the end of the spring to take up the slack?

Wouldn't any spacer raise my car? I like the stance it has now, just worried about the springs shifting under acceleration.

What you need to do is limit the travel on your spring. Alto of racers use a cable system to limit spring travel. This will also help in wheel alignment and shimming down the track

Re: Cut 620 Coil Springs and Drag Racing

High rate springs and drag racing don't go together. For a drag spring, you want a long spring with a low rate to store energy. you have a road race lowering spring with some coils cut which increases the spring rate even more. Not good for drag racing - when you launch, I'll bet the front end acts like it's glued to the track. No matter - it's what you have. As noted you'll need to get the cable limiter and install it.
