The Golden Greek

Anyone familiar with this NHRA top fuel drag racer? I met his brother yesterday. He owns a pizza place in my town. I noticed a mix of what looked like nostalgic drag racing pics on his wall. A bunch of pics of whole shots from a rail type dragster with the engine in the front.

Karamesines has been racing way longer than I've been alive and still competes in IHRA competition. I think the guy is in his mid 70's now and he still runs fuel cars. He's also a pretty cool dude. I met him a couple times in Denver in the late '80's and early '90's. He ran a twin engine digger back in the day during the NHRA nitro ban years. I think he may have beat both Prudhomme and Garlits on the match race circuit in the '60's. At one point he was a pretty big name in drag racing.

Yeah, I've seen him run at Indy US nationals a few times. Perty cool for a old man to still be able to run.
