9in rearend into a fox chassis

I'm thinking of putting a 9in in my 84 t-bird. Looking for positives or negatives and which company to buy from. I found a company on e-bay and there price is $350 for the housing and I think this is a good deal. The company is Quick Performance in Iowa. Has anyone ever dealt with them?

Re: 9in rearend into a fox chassis

BadBird, let me know what you find out on this. We have a 86 coupe that I want to run nine inch in, my problem is, I read somewhere that the upper control arm attachment brackets on aftermarket 9" housings for Foxbody's
have to be raised from the factory location, which moves the lift center rearward on the car. I read this somewhere long ago and want to find out if this is fact or BS. What ever the case my sons car launches and runs arrow straight now and I don't want to wind up with an ill handling pos.

I plan on using adjustable upper control arms to keep the pinion angle right. I will also lower the bottom control arm to change the instant center.

Unless you're planning on going ridiculously fast, my recommendation would be to just run an 8.8.

They're cheap, common, and they bolt right in. They're also incredibly strong and take less hp to turn than a 9".

8.8's work great with proper upgrades. If your only doing 13's like you sig says your wasting your money on a 9"

The car will be into the low 11's by next year. My comet has a 9in. My 8.8 only has 3:73 gear, stock axles and needs c-clip elinmators. For the money I would spend upgrading my 8.8 why not build a 9in and be able to swap pots with my comet.

I like my 8.8 as I've never had a problem with it. What upgrades other than axles would I have to do make the 8.8 standup. I also have a friend that will be able to use my 8.8.

A 31 spline trak-lok and axles will take a LOT of abuse. One of the aluminum diff covers wouldn't hurt anything.

Everyone around here running 10s is still running an 8.8.

Since the 9" is a good price and you don't have to worry about C clips and other parts, go 9". Gear changes are easy and parts are better. Most people that run an 8.8 only because that's what was already in there. Nothing wrong with that either. Weight, just think it's more weight on the rear tires where you want it. And we're not talking some 300#s either.

Re: 9in rearend into a fox chassis

After thinking about my projcts this weekend I've decided to stop putting money into the t-bird and get on with the comet. That means the 8.8 will be more than strong enough. Thanks for the input.
