Re: The Vinyl66 runs new best!!

Vinyl66, My springs were bumped up to 345lbs open, so that from what I was told should help it rev faster to 6500rpms. I'm running a 3:55 gear and have a 5 speed Tremec TKO manual tranny w/.82(5th gear). Still got 17 X 8's up front and 17 X 9.5 rims in the rear to put on. Going with Torque Thrust II's. Been working on this car for 2.5 years now........almost done. It's a fun car to drive. Get lots of compliments on how it sounds with the Spintech side exit exhaust(333SCS). You can see more pics and a video clip of my car on my website. Lots of work done. But well worth it in the end.

Where's your pic of your car?? I thought at one time you had it on here.

That's awesome! It's worth upgrading the safety stuff so you can go faster. Also, a six point cage will stiffen the chassis up a good bit and help the car launch even better.

Also is there a bar that is track legal but still allows decent access to the back seat?

Re: The Vinyl66 runs new best!!

S&W sells pre-notched roll bar kits that fit great. I am not sure of the weight, but mine is 1 3/4" DOM steel. A six point will be fine w/ the side bars for the doors. Some people make it so that you can have swing out bars and some people weld them in solid so you have to crawl over them. I am not sure of the rules now, but swing out bars used to be legal. If you do weld the side bars, it will make the chassis stiffer than if they just swing out. You really don't need chromoly even though it is somewhat lighter and requires more skill to weld (TIG). The steel is fine and you can put it in w/ a MIG. I made up a removable back bar that I attach my harness to and it really isn't legal, but they usually don't hassle me about it at the local track. If you want it legal, it has to be welded in and that takes away your back seat for passengers. But I never have anybody sit in back so it is not an issue for me anyway. I just made it removable on the occasion that I wanted to let somebody sit back there. -Mike
