Re: Anyone watch PINKS?
I would be pissed if I show up and was told to bring a 10:50 car and was beat by a 9:00 car when they were told to bring a 10:50 car also. I am not saying that is what happened this time but it has in the past.

Re: Anyone watch PINKS?
THat amx was way faster then the mustang. I did not like what the guys did to the motor of the mustang. IT needed a bigger cam and it needs to be bored out to a 347 at least to be even with the 360 of the amx. The mustang was probaly a 11.50 car on the nitrous and the amx was running that on the motor.

Re: Anyone watch PINKS?
Like was said the Mustang boys brought a knife to a gun fight. If I was 'stupid' enough to race for pink slips I would damn sure have more that a 302.
Just watched Pinks from Reading Pa. Really broke my heart when the Thunderbolt got inched out at the finish . He was a little slow at the
'arm drop' .

Re: Anyone watch PINKS?
Long time Mustang fan here...and third party with no ties to either group...
The AMX team played to win. That AMX walked all over the Mustang. They did a great job building a winning car. I knew the AMX won the mercy race when I saw the launch. One of the best races Ive seen on the show...

Re: Anyone watch PINKS?
I love the concept of pinks.
However... ONE thing they NEED to do is this...
The cars are brought to the line and then the drivers are escorted away. A 3rd party (rich or that goof nate) runs each car once to confirm its time. Or have nate run in the car with the driver to determine if they are running all out.
Its lame that they are told to bring a 10.5 car but show up in a 9.0 car.

Re: Anyone watch PINKS?
I watch pinks quite a bit.
There is a LOT more wrong with the way they do things than most people think about. Here's one...how about giving a guy a head start. Well the guy that gets the head start almost always loses. Why? Because the guy who gets the head start is at a disadvantage...he won't have NEAR the top end speed as their opponent. So if normally you're going 110 mph at the 1/4 mile and you get a 2 length head start, your MPH will be down to about 90-95 because you won't have the full 1/4 mile to race on. So if the slower car normally traps 110 and gets a head start, and the other guy normally traps 105 (the theoretically slower car), the theoretically slower car is at an advantage. That's why a full timing system should be implemented. But when they do that, it takes away from the traditional "flag man" street racing deal, and that is what pinks is all about. Then you have a bracket race and we all know that bracket races are just about boring to watch. Fun to actually participate in, but boring to watch.

You gotta be kidding me, since when did trap speed ever win a drag race.
Its a shorter track for the guy with 2 lengths head start, as long as he can hook out there (the bigger problem with the 3-4 car length stagger)

Re: Anyone watch PINKS?
its alot like your 60ft time, if you roll into the beams too far, or deep stage, your 60 will be a few hundreths slower, but if you get to shallow stage you get that extra 12 inches to get a "run" at it

Re: Anyone watch PINKS?
Deep staging for me gives up .15 second. Thats a LOT. And my trap speed is down about 2 mph. And that's only 12 inches. My normal 1/8 mile times were 6.00 at 116. Deep staging they're 6.15 at 113-114. Just the way my car is. Some cars give up less by going deep, some more. Larger front tires=more rollout=a little better ET. Same for reducing front tire pressure. If I am going red by a little, (footbraking) I will reduce the pressure from 35 to 30-32 and it will slow the car down by a few hundredths. Opposite if I am .020's and 30's.
And they say bracket racing is easy....there's a lot to think about!
trap speed: Think about it. One car is 105 close to the finish line and the other is 115. Who is most likely to win? index cars race on a .90 index. 8.90 cars are going over 200 MPH now. The top end speed makes it a LOT harder to judge the other car at the finish line. There was a digger at MMP last year that war running 8.90-8.91 but at 212 mph. Most were between 180-200. 9.90 cars were going 150-170.
And my Mustang....I can't tell you how many races it's won because of the higher than normal top end speed. Only runs 7.00 in the 1/8 but at 102-105. In a bracket race, it's VERY VERY hard to judge...and more often than not, the other racer breaks out unless he's got his game together.
