Yes. Same bore spacing too. Heads will also interchange (with work and a special intake...not for the novice builder).

So once again, a Cleveland is a small block lol...not a big block =).

No sence in arguing with this bottle fed guy. Just another troll looking to ruffle some feathers.

Re: Big block or Small Block

And then there is the Pontiac 350/455 which uses the same block so what do we call that one? Oh wait, we are talking Fords and the Cleveland is a small block and it is about the dimensions of a block. The 352 FE was a big block even though it was only one cubic inch bigger than a Windsor or a Cleveland.

Re: Big block or Small Block

a 351 clevaland is neither a small block or big block, yes the physical size is pretty big, but it does share the same bore spacing and stroke with a 351w.
With that being said small block and big block are chevy designations, ford never called a 460 a big block, it was simply called a 385 series engine. the cleveland, the 351m and 400 all fall into a 335 series motor catergory, windsors are windsors, such as 289's 302's and 351w's, there is no such thing in a ford vocabulary as big or small block

Well, other than the fact that so many parts are broken into bbf/sbf categories, and have been for so very long that the 385/335 designations aren't even known of by the younger generations. The FE/385 motors are BIG blocks, and even though the heads are large on the '335' series motors...the blocks are in fact, small. Do a search on this board alone for 'Big block Ford' or even 'BBF' if it would let you, and you'd find hundreds of references. What's accepted as the norm, in terms of names, often becomes truth over time.

Besides, the only reason I was arguing the point is because the assinine little troll made such a ridiculous comment lol.

=)

I guess by following your logic (there are no big or small blocks, only blocks), there's no Ford and Chevy...only cars, no US and China, only countries...as a matter of fact there are no races, only people. Hell, we can go a step farther and say there are no continents, only chunks of land...or get biological and say that people and animals are the same too, since we both eat, sleep, breathe etc. We could continue this until there's pretty much nothing bud...but most people's minds are more able to cope with things by dividing it up into manageable little chunks of information. Big block, small block, etc. Not too hard to understand once you re-think it.

So I'm still curious...what do you call a 455" windsor?

Oh, and welcome to FordMuscle...hopefully the rest of your posts are a bit more productive =).
